Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 40-year-old woman who has been dealing with endometriosis for the past five years. Recently, I have been feeling very anxious about the possibility of developing ovarian cancer, especially since I have had multiple ovarian cysts in the past. My recent blood work showed a CA125 (cancer antigen 125) level of 25 U/mL, which is within the normal range, but I am still concerned because of my history of ovarian cysts and the ongoing endometriosis. I have read that these conditions can sometimes increase the risk of ovarian cancer.
Please advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Have regular checkups with your gynecologist. While your CA125 (cancer antigen 125) level is within the normal range, it is useful to continue monitoring it regularly, especially if you experience any changes in symptoms. Regular pelvic ultrasounds can help monitor ovarian cysts and any changes in your ovaries. In some cases, more detailed imaging, such as MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) or CT (computed tomography) scans, may be recommended to get a clearer picture of your pelvic organs. Be aware of symptoms that might indicate ovarian cancer, such as persistent bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating, or feeling full quickly. Additionally, maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management.
I hope this information helps you.
