Is it safe to use cannabis oil capsules for overactive bladder?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have an overactive bladder, and I have tried all the relevant drugs to relieve my symptoms. Most did not work or had intolerable side effects. I then got addicted to sleep aids, which enabled me to sleep harder, thus getting up less to urinate at night. These sleep aids came with their own side effects. I have been taking cannabis oil capsules (not CBD) for two years now. They provide a good night's sleep, and I get up less to urinate. I am not diabetic. I do not have thyroid issues except for GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). I have had TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate) done twice before to no avail. The prostate is a normal size. There is insignificant post-void residual urine. I am currently taking Ramipril 5 mg and Calcigard 20 mg to manage my blood pressure, as well as Esomeprazole to control GERD. Should I give up these cannabis oil capsules as there is no research for long-term use? On the other hand, if I do give up these capsules, my overactive bladder might come back with a vengeance. I used to typically get up five to nine times without medication.
Kindly help.
Hello,
I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.
I can understand your concern.
According to your statement, you have been suffering from overactive bladder symptoms and to overcome these bladder overactive symptoms, you have been taking regular cannabis oil capsules for the last two years. Now, your query is whether you can continue cannabis oil capsules for a long period or not. Interestingly the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that cannabis oil capsules are not harmful if they are used regularly for overactive bladder symptoms and very effective for these symptoms but there is still a possibility to behave in various ways to a definite element if that product is used for prolonged period as every human body is unique and that may be harmful.
If you start taking cannabis oil capsules after consulting with your physician, then you can use them until your doctor will not suggest you stop taking them. Besides, some measures can be taken like lifestyle modification, just drinking liquids how much to drink by your physician, bladder training and pelvic floor exercises, avoiding alcohol, smoking, beverages, and constipation, maintaining a healthy weight according to your height, taking vitamin D, vitamin B, zinc and omega fatty acids, taking balanced diet regularly with green leafy vegetables, and others for reducing overactive bladder symptoms.
Some medications like Fesoterodine, Mirabegron, Oxybutynin, Solifenacin, Tolterodine, Trospium, and more can be taken for it. Again, Botox injections, nerve stimulation, and percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation can be helpful for you. But, at first, the exact underlying causes for your overactive bladder symptoms should be found out and treated accordingly.
I hope that you get your answer. Please let me know if you want some help.
Thank you.
