Paederus Dermatitis

Paederus dermatitis is an irritant contact dermatitis caused by a beetle belonging to the Paederus genus. The standard clinical features are erythema, vesicles, pustules, and a burning sensation in the affected region. It usually releases a fluid called paederin, a potent blistering agent. It is managed by removing the irritant by washing the area with soap and water followed by topical steroid application.
