What would cause a soft bump on the lower torso?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am querying about a painless red bump that appeared on my lower torso yesterday. The bump is generally very soft, with a very small firmer center. This may have arisen from the way I sleep; however, since I am unsure, I would like a second opinion.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

These bumps are inflammatory, either due to an insect or mosquito bite, or can be due to friction or pressure. Is there any itching? For these lesions right now, I suggest you start using a cream, Hydrocortisone 1 %, twice daily over the lesions. This ointment will help in recovery in a few days.

This is papular urticaria, most probably, but nothing serious. No oral medicine is required for this condition. Wear full-sleeve clothes and cover your extremities. No other restrictions are needed. No dietary restrictions also.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The softness is because of inflammation. It will improve with the ointment I suggested. It is available over the counter. Apply it twice daily.
