Patient's Query
Hello doctor.
I have a friend struggling with polycystic ovary syndrome/polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. She is trying to conceive but has not had any luck, and on top of that, she has been feeling down lately. Also, she has suicidal thoughts, which has got me worried.
I know PCOS/PMOS can mess with your hormones and make it harder to get pregnant, but I am not sure what else it can do. Can you tell me more about the symptoms and effects of this? And what kind of treatment options are available for someone in her situation? I just want to make sure she is getting the help she needs, both physically and mentally.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Your friend is suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome/polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PCOS/PMOS). In this disease, the periods become irregular, and there is difficulty in conceiving a baby, which may be the cause of her suicidal thoughts.
The hormonal imbalance can be treated by regular hormone therapy for at least three months. One should also exclude other causes of infertility.
You should consult an infertility specialist for hormone treatment and other investigations.
Advise your friend to practice meditation and yoga and to eat a healthy diet, and assure her that PCOS/PMOS is curable.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
