Can natural remedies regulate my friend's periods with PCOS/PMOS?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My friend is 25 years old. She has suffered from PCOS/PMOS and irregular periods for two years. I want to know some natural remedies that would help her to regulate her periods regularly. She is not taking any medications for PCOS/PMOS and is planning to get married soon.

Will this PCOS/PMOS and irregular period affect her fertility in the future?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your case, and I understand your concern.

PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome)/PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome) is very common these days, especially in the young population. Irregular periods, scanty menses, acne, and excessive weight gain; these things are commonly seen in PCOS/PMOS.

Usually, PCOS/PMOS cycles are anovulatory means it does not release an egg, so there could be some problems with her fertility. But it is not always; she might get pregnant without any interventions, even if the cycle is anovulatory, and can be easily managed with regular follicular study and ovulation induction.

Weight and PCOS/PMOS are correlated to each other, so she should maintain her weight within a BMI range with regular exercise and diet modification, which helps a lot with PCOS/PMOS.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
