How to improve penile discomfort and swelling?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had discomfort and swelling in my penis for the past five days.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I do understand your concern.

It appears to be a genital ulcer, which could be infectious (bacterial infection).

  1. Apply Mupirocin cream twice daily for ten days.
  2. Take tablet Zifi (cefixime and ofloxacin) 200 mg twice daily for five days.
  3. Clean the area with povidone-iodine solution twice daily for one month with a cotton gauze piece or cotton tip applicator.
  4. Practice safe sex.
  5. Avoid high-risk exposure.
  6. Do not scratch or rub the lesions.
  7. Keep your nails short.
  8. Maintain proper genital hygiene, as hygiene plays a very important role.
  9. Get urine routine and microscopy tests done. Follow up with reports.

I hope this helps. Thank you.
