What treatment can be done to remove black spot lesions on the penis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I noticed a black spot on my penis head. There are no other symptoms, and it is harmless, but it does not look good, and because of this, my partner feels uncomfortable. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The cause of your issue appears to be penile melanosis (small patches of dark skin on the penis). But please let me know. Since when did it appear? Was there excessive scratching or rubbing or any chronic friction in the penile area? Do you have any history of atopy or allergies?

Please respond with the specifics, and I will try my best to assist you.

I hope this information will help you.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

It started two years ago, and I do not have any allergies other than sulfa allergies from medications. Also, no history of excessive rubbing or scratching. I consulted a dermatologist last year, and they recommended tacrolimus cream, but I am yet to see any results.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

No need to worry. It will take time to fade. I suggest you follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Apply Mometasone cream at night for one month.

  2. Apply Tacrolimus 0.1 percent gel in the daytime for one month.

  3. Vitamin C Tablet 500 mg once a day after breakfast for 30 days.

  4. A tablet of 110 mg of Zinc (dietary supplement) is taken once a day after dinner for 30 days.

Instructions for application are:

  1. Clean the area with soap-free cleanser daily for two months.

  2. Avoid scratching and rubbing or friction.

  3. Wear loose, comfortable, thin cotton clothes and undergarments.

  4. Avoid stress.

  5. Eat a diet rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids.

  6. Use moisturizer after baths for one month.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.
