Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My preborn baby who is still in the womb has a persistent left SVC problem. Please explain to me the severity of the problem and the medication to follow. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query. I went through your reports (the attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). There are two defects noted in the report. VSD (ventricular septal defect) which seems to be of small size and should not usually cause a problem and which may probably even close later ahead in life. Persistent left superior vena cava: It has been noted that around 50 percent of patients with this problem do not even know about it and it mostly does not cause any problems while the other 50 percent of patients who have this issue may suffer from a co-existing cardiac anomaly. In both these cases, once the child is born, a 2D echocardiography of the child needs to be done to make sure what exactly the problem is, and then it needs to be addressed accordingly. I hope this has helped you. Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
