Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a high hemoglobin count of 17.90, a high level of PCV of 53.50, and an RBC count of 6.05. and my serum erythropoietin levels are 6.23, with a platelet count of 130. Is it confirmed that I have polycythemia vera?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. In primary polycythemia, EPO levels are usually low, which seems normal here as per history. Second, in primary polycythemia, WBC count and platelet count are high. So primary polycythemia cannot be diagnosed conclusively here.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
