Why do I have weak erections and ejaculate quickly?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 28 years old, but I have been experiencing sexual problems with most of the women I meet. My erection is often weak and can sometimes go completely flaccid during sex. I have tried using Viagra, but it has not worked for me. Occasionally, I can get an erection, but it lasts only for a few seconds before I ejaculate quickly.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concerns.

I am really sorry to hear that you are going through this; it can feel both embarrassing and frustrating. Since Viagra (Sildenafil) did not work, it would be wise to rule out any medical causes, such as blood sugar issues, hormone imbalances, especially testosterone thyroid problems, or blood pressure concerns.

The good news is that for young men like you, this is often treatable and not permanent. With the right evaluation and approach, sometimes medical, sometimes psychological, and often both, things can improve significantly. You are not broken, and this situation can get better.

First, I want to reassure you that at 28, this is very likely reversible, and many men experience improvement without heavy medication. Since your erections are sometimes strong but don’t last, you can benefit from improving blood flow, reducing anxiety, and building stamina.

Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Aim for at least four to five days a week of brisk walking, jogging, or strength training. Good circulation is key to strong erections, and even 30 minutes of daily activity can make a big difference.

  2. Strive for seven to eight hours of sleep per night. Poor sleep can lower testosterone levels and increase performance anxiety.

  3. You have to reduce or stop smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption is important, as both can weaken erections over time.

  4. You should eat foods that promote blood flow, such as leafy greens, beetroot, watermelon, nuts, seeds, eggs, and fish. Staying hydrated is also crucial.

  5. Most importantly, try to reduce the pressure you put on yourself. The more you focus on monitoring your erection, the harder it becomes to maintain. Confidence builds gradually.

If, after two to three months of these lifestyle changes, you notice no improvement, please get in touch with me for basic blood tests (testosterone, blood sugar, thyroid). However, many men see natural improvements by following these steps.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I would be happy to guide you. Please keep your valuable feedback for better patient care.

Thank you so much.
