What could cause bleeding from the vagina during intercourse?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am bleeding from the vagina during sex, no period, but bleeding. My height is 5 feet and 3 inches, and I weigh around 90.17 pounds. I am on Baralgin medication.
-
History of medical conditions: Urine burns, so I know there is an infection in my bladder, but it turns out that my period came to a stop, and every morning I pee in the bathroom, and blood comes along with it.
-
Current medication details: Baralgin.
-
History of medication for the same complaint: No.
-
Lab tests done: Bladder infection.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
From what you describe, bleeding during sex, burning urine, and also blood in urine every morning, this looks more like a urinary tract problem (UTI) than a period issue. Sometimes, a bladder infection (UTI) can cause blood in urine, pain, and burning.
Bleeding after sex can also come from vaginal irritation or the cervix. Since you are underweight and already have pain, this needs a proper checkup, not just painkillers.
The probable causes: Urinary tract infection with associated vaginal/cervical irritation.
Investigations to be done:
Urine routine and culture test.
Ultrasound pelvis and bladder.
Vaginal and cervical exam (by a gynecologist).
Differential diagnosis:
UTI with hematuria (most likely).
Vaginal or cervical infection and erosion.
Kidney and bladder stone (if bleeding persists).
Probable diagnosis: UTI with post-coital vaginal bleeding.
Treatment plan:
Needs antibiotics guided by urine culture, not just Baralgin.
Drink plenty of water.
Avoid sexual activity till the infection clears.
If bleeding is heavy or with clots, see a hospital urgently.
Regarding follow-up:
Please get a urine culture done and share the report here. Also, follow up with a gynecologist to rule out a local cervical/vaginal cause. Update me once reports are available.
Preventive measures:
Pass urine after sex to reduce UTI risk.
Maintain good hydration and hygiene.
Avoid self-medicating only with painkillers.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
