Is minimal fluid in the POD a cause for concern?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have conception issues. Today is my last day of ovulation. During my ovulation days, I had three scan reports, and everything was normal and okay. The egg size is 20, but in the last scan, there was minimal fluid in the pouch. Is this okay?

Kindly provide your insight.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

It is great that your ovulation and egg size (20mm) are normal! Regarding the minimal fluid in the pouch of Douglas (POD), this is usually a normal sign of ovulation and means that the follicle likely ruptured, releasing the egg. This is a positive sign for conception.

Key points about your ovulation:

  1. Egg size 20 mm – Ideal for ovulation and conception.

  2. Minimal fluid in the POD – Can indicate that ovulation has occurred.

3. Three scan reports normal – No major issues detected.

Next steps for conception:

1. Have intercourse around ovulation – Since today is your last ovulation day, having intercourse now and in the next one to two days can help.

2. Stay stress-free – Stress can affect implantation.

3. Track luteal phase – Ensure a healthy progesterone level for implantation.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
