Can pregnancy occur from finger penetration?
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I would like to ask whether there is any possibility that I could be pregnant. Earlier today, I was with my boyfriend, and he touched my vulva and slightly penetrated my vagina with his fingers. Before doing so, there is a chance that he may have come into contact with his pre-ejaculate fluid, although we are not certain.
I am feeling very anxious and scared, especially because we are both underage. Today is the 20th day of my menstrual cycle, typically lasting 30 to 32 days.
Given these circumstances, is there a chance that I could be pregnant?
Please help me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I completely understand your concerns, and it is perfectly normal to feel anxious in such a situation.
Pregnancy typically requires vaginal intercourse involving penile penetration. If there was no penetration of the penis into the vagina, then you can be reassured. There is no risk of pregnancy in that case, regardless of whether ejaculation occurred.
However, if there was penetration, then there is a possibility of pregnancy. If the incident occurred within the last 72 hours, I would recommend considering emergency contraception.
Emergency contraceptive option:
Tablet: Levonorgestrel 0.75 mg, two tablets taken together as a single dose.
Mechanism of action:
-
It inhibits or delays ovulation.
-
It thickens cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to reach the uterus.
-
It alters the endometrial lining, which can delay or prevent implantation.
Effectiveness: When taken within the recommended time frame, it provides approximately 90% protection against pregnancy.
I hope this explanation has addressed your concern. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. I would also appreciate your feedback on this response.
Reply to me if you have more concerns or questions.
I hope this information helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
I would like to add that he only inserted his finger, which may have had a small amount of pre-ejaculate (precum) on it. There was no ejaculation involved at all. Additionally, my hymen is still intact.
Given these circumstances, is there any possibility that I could be pregnant?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I completely understand your concern, and it is natural to feel anxious in such situations.
However, please rest assured: if there was no penile penetration, then there is no risk of pregnancy.
Pregnancy cannot occur from fingering or simply touching the genital area, even if there was potential contact with pre-ejaculate. I want to reassure you, you do not need to worry about pregnancy in this case.
Thank you.
