Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I checked with Prega News, and my result is positive, showing a dark line. I did this five days before my expected period. I believe I am pregnant. Please tell me how to handle my pregnancy?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
I got your concern that you are pregnant; you have confirmed it by doing a urinary pregnancy test. Based on your positive pregnancy test with a dark line obtained five days before the expected period date, this indicates an early pregnancy with adequate hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels.
Schedule your first antenatal visit ideally within the first ten weeks of gestation, preferably as soon as possible.
I suggest you do the following tests
CBC (complete blood count).
Blood grouping.
Blood sugar level (Fasting and Post Prandial).
TFT (thyroid function test).
Viral marker.
Urine routine and microscopy.
Urine culture.
TVUS (transvaginal ultrasound) or abdominal ultrasound at six to ten weeks.
Combined screening with Nuchal translucency.
Maternal serum markers (PAPP-A (Pregnancy-associated plasma protein A) and beta-hCG for chromosomal abnormalities (11 to 13 weeks of gestation).
As you are in your first trimester of pregnancy, you can follow these:
Folic acid 400-800 micrograms daily starts immediately and continues until 12 weeks of gestation to prevent neural tube defects in the fetus.
Iron supplement 30-60 milligrams daily to prevent maternal anaemia and ensure adequate fetal development.
Calcium supplement 1000-1500 milligrams daily in divided doses to prevent preeclampsia and support fetal skeletal development.
Vitamin D daily supplementation
You should avoid vitamin A (retinol) and Cod liver oil during pregnancy due to teratogenic effects.
Please follow up for a prescription if you encounter nausea or morning sickness, fatigue, Breast tenderness, or any other symptoms. I am always ready to help.
I hope this information helps you.
Feel free to ask further queries.
Thank you.
