Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
For reference, my boyfriend was wearing cotton undergarments and cotton shorts. Whereas I was wearing cotton undergarments and polyester pajamas.
My partner let off pre-cum and cum near my genitals. Is it possible to get pregnant?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you so much for sharing your query with me.
I can completely understand your concern and the anxiety that can happen after any intimate contact, especially when there is fear about an unintended pregnancy. However, based on the situation you described, the possibility of pregnancy is extremely low to practically negligible. Pregnancy generally requires direct entry of semen into the vaginal area for fertilization to occur.
In your case, both of you were wearing multiple layers of clothing, including underwear and shorts or pyjamas, which act as strong physical barriers. Sperm cannot easily pass through several layers of fabric, particularly materials like cotton and polyester, and they also do not survive well outside the body in such conditions.
Even if pre-cum or semen were released near the genital region, the clothing between both of you makes the chances of pregnancy highly unlikely from a medical point of view. Situations like this are not generally considered significant pregnancy-risk exposures. Sometimes, after intimate activity, people may start overthinking every detail, which can increase stress and fear unnecessarily.
Did any semen directly soak through the clothes into the vaginal area, or were the clothes mostly dry and intact afterward?
I hope it helped with the query.
Please let me know if you have any more questions on your mind.
I would be happy to guide you.
Thank you.
