What are the chances of death in conceiving twin babies through IVF?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have conceived twin babies through IVF donor egg. I am currently 27 weeks pregnant. What are the chances of my death in the process? Despite knowing the risks doctors still promote multiple pregnancies.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I heard that you are having a twin pregnancy through IVF (in-vitro fertilization) and you are more than halfway through the pregnancy. First let me make you aware that during pregnancy there are quite a few changes in the female's body, also during the delivery process there are changes that lead to some amount of blood loss as well. Being a twin pregnancy there are higher chances of you having pre-term delivery, high blood pressure, raised sugars as well also chances of heavy bleeding than normal can be assumed. For this purpose keeping a check of your physical health and regular checkups will help you to keep track of the medications and treatment required. Also during your delivery which your doctor will schedule, there will be adequate measures taken by them like keeping blood products ready and having a good team of anesthetists as well.
As per your question chances of death, see it all depends on the scenario at that time, and body's immunity and the recovery from your side, the bleeding amount, etc. It is hard to know the chances at this time, keep yourself connected to your gynecologist so that you will get help at the earliest, lets hope everything goes at the best.
I hope this helps.
Regards.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
How long can a lady work in the office with a DADC twin pregnancy? I am currently 27 weeks and plan to go for two more days. How long can you safely climb stairs in a twin pregnancy? Please advise.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome again to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Please understand that having a room on the ground floor will be helpful, due to the abdomen size which gradually will increase you tend to miss steps. So avoid it if you can. Also related to work, if you have a desk job, and not much exertion, and all the reports are fine, you may continue for some time, a week or two. However, there are chances for preterm delivery in twin pregnancies. Hence, having adequate rest is suggested.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Thank you.
