Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 16-year-old female, approximately 5'3" tall and weighing 115 lbs, is experiencing intense pain and nausea during menstruation.
What could be the potential causes for these symptoms?
What are the recommended steps for management?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and can understand your concern.
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) has a wide variety of signs and symptoms, including mood swings, tender breasts, food cravings, fatigue, irritability and depression. It is estimated that as many as three of every four menstruating women have experienced some form of premenstrual syndrome.
Symptoms tend to recur in a predictable pattern. But the physical and emotional changes you experience with premenstrual syndrome may vary from just slightly noticeable all the way to intense.
Still, you do not have to let these problems control your life. Treatments and lifestyle adjustments can help you reduce or manage the signs and symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.
Management :
Tablet Norethisterone 5 mg thrice a day for three months.
Tablet Cholecalciferol 1000 IU one tablet every ten days for three months.
I hope after taking medication your symptoms will be at ease. Do not get stressed about your problem; it is normal, not pathological.
I hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
