Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had two emergency contraceptive pills last month, and in the last week of the month, I had a little spotting. After two days, my normal period began, which lasted for three to four days like it usually does. The flow was normal, neither heavy nor light. However, this month, my period was expected last week, but I still have not gotten it. I noticed some red, water-like discharge in my urine in the morning, and I thought it was my period, but it has not started yet. I have been getting white discharge every day since then. Can you please tell me if this is a side effect of unwanted 72 and are pregnancy chances nil as I got my periods last time and have not had intercourse in the last month at all? And if these are the side effects, should I start taking progesterone, and for how long should I take it?
Please suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Well, whenever you take a hormone tablet in the middle of the menstrual cycle it may cause an irregular menstrual cycle.
For that reason, you need to take one hormone tablet for one cycle and your period will become normal.
If you want to take the tablet Regestrone (Norethisterone), it is oral progesterone and is more effective in anovulatory dysfunction of uterine bleeding and least effective in ovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding. For ovulatory it needs to be given a high dose because this tablet is most preferred when heavy menstrual bleeding, so I will suggest you to take this. Instead of this place, I will advise you to take a tablet of Dydrogesterone 10 mg (Duphaston) morning and night for 21 days and then seven days off.
I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.
Thank you.
