Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have always been a sad person throughout my life, and when I was small, my father used to hit and scold me for very small mistakes. I have no confidence in myself. I get scared very easily. I have dyslexia, and recently I am not able to concentrate on my studies and anything. My father does not hit me anymore. He is a nice person, but I am very scared of him. I really have trouble making friends. I have none of them. I mean, I have some friends, but I do not have any close friends as everyone does. I have been in a relationship for the past five years. I think that is the only reason I am able to look forward in life. I need someone to talk to, and I need some guidance because I do not know why I feel very helpless these days, and I have so much to share that I have never told anyone else before. I have no will to live, but still, I have to pretend that everything is normal in front of them.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening, or distressing events. A person with PTSD often relieves the traumatic event through nightmares and flashbacks as well as may suffer from isolation, irritability, and guilt. They may also suffer from insomnia and lack of concentration. These symptoms may leave a significant impact on the person's day-to-day life. PTSD has few stages. So it is important to assess the staging of your PTSD, and then the decision of treatment will be made. Most importantly, PTSD can be successfully treated. Psychotherapy with or without antidepressants is the treatment of choice here. You should consult a professional psychiatrist for consultation and psychotherapy.
