I have a rash on my forehead. What are its causes?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a forehead rash that comes and goes. This time, it looks like it is up near the hairline. It will flare for 20 minutes and then cool down. It feels hot when it flares. Do you know what kind of rash this is?
I do sometimes pick at my scalp and itch my scalp when I am stressed or to self-soothe.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your case. This type of rash is usually a feature of contact dermatitis, which shows you are getting an allergy to some allergen. In that, you need to identify what it could be. It could be anything from the following two to three allergens.
Any usual cream, lotion, or hair gel, even if you have been using it for many years. Slowly, such chemicals get deposited in the skin, and there are likely chances that the reaction does not appear on its first use, but it appears later once foreign chemicals accumulate. So please try to avoid and notice any creams, either new or old ones.
If you are having dandruff, it can also cause this type of rash.
The forehead is the area that is maximally exposed to sunlight. When staying indoors, UV (ultraviolet) rays are emitted from LED (light-emitting diode) lights. Some redness is also noticed on the bridge of your nose. And chances of photo contact dermatitis are always high in white skin.
Now, when coming to the treatment, I suggest the following:
- Notice any foreign allergen and avoid it in the future.
- Use any sunblock with a sun protection factor above 60, and also use it when you are indoors. Make it. a routine
- Use Neutrogena T gel (which contains Coal tar, Sodium laureth sulfide, and Cocamidopropyl betaine) shampoo for hair wash.
- Apply 1 percent Hydrocortisone cream two times a day for three days.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
