How to get rid of a receding hairline ?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old, and I have noticed a slight recession in my hairline, forming a gentle V shape. I do not have a significant history of hair loss; it seems to be within the normal range. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. There is definitely some receding. It is Norwood stage 1 now. Please do not worry, you can start using Minoxidil 5% solution on the scalp. There may be a bit of hair loss afterwards but continue using it.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello,

Thank you for the answer. Is this the beginning of male androgenetic alopecia, or is it just a normal change in the hairline for my age (maturing hairline)? I mention again (I am 18 years old) and only in the last year and a half my hairline receded a bit like this at the temples and create a delicate V shape, on the other hand I know that if I start with Minoxidil now, I will have to put it all my life otherwise all the hair that grew from it will fall out. Should I use it?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is indeed at stage 1, which is quite common. Whether it bothers you or not is a personal decision. If you choose not to pursue any treatment for now, that's perfectly fine.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
