Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 19, and have a receding hairline, but now it has stopped, so how can I grow it back? Also, my hair falls sometimes and goes. Please also tell me if I should apply rosemary water because my hair fall has started after applying it.
Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your queries and can understand your concern regarding your receding hairline and on-and-off hair fall at just 19 years of age. At this stage of life, even small changes in hair can feel overwhelming, so your concern is completely valid.
The fact that your hairline recession has stopped is actually a reassuring sign and suggests that this may be a maturing hairline or temporary hair shedding, rather than permanent baldness. In many teenagers, hair fall that comes and goes is often related to stress, minor nutritional deficiencies, scalp inflammation, or hormonal fluctuations. When hair follicles are still alive, which is very likely in your case, there is a good chance of improvement with early and consistent care.
Regrowth takes time, so patience is very important. Regarding rosemary water, it is best that you stop using it for now. Although it is natural, it can irritate sensitive scalps. Since your hair fall started after applying it, it may have caused scalp inflammation or irritation, leading to increased shedding.
Natural remedies are not always harmless, especially if they cause itching, burning, or increased hair fall.
For treatment, you can start Minoxidil 5 percent spray, applied twice daily to the frontal hairline on a dry scalp. Use five puffs of spray and gently spread it with your fingertips, avoiding washing your hair for at least four hours afterwards. Some initial shedding in the first few weeks is normal and temporary.
Along with this, use a Ketoconazole and zinc shampoo about two times per week, leaving it on the scalp for three to five minutes before rinsing. This helps reduce dandruff, inflammation, and scalp conditions that can worsen hair fall.
Also take a once-daily multivitamin, which contains biotin, zinc, and essential micronutrients. Supplements help support hair health if there is an underlying deficiency, but they work best when combined with proper topical treatment and good nutrition.
Try to maintain a healthy routine by getting adequate sleep, managing stress, eating enough protein, and avoiding excessive styling, heat, or frequent oiling. Avoid experimenting with multiple home remedies or harsh products, as these can worsen scalp sensitivity. You will see hair growth in three to six months.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
