Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I cut the gum while trying to remove plaque, exposing the tooth root; the gum around the exposed root is reddish and painful. Is it possible to cover the exposed root and prevent teeth from becoming loose? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Yes, it is possible to fix up your gum issues. Generally, people get hurt while brushing and flossing, and since the gums are so soft, they immediately bleed. You need not worry. There are gum surgeries that can heal the injured gums. It is called MUCOGINGIVAL surgery, where the lost gum can be repaired using tissues from other sites. It is a minor surgical procedure, and you can very well opt for it. Kindly visit a periodontist, a specialist in gum surgery, and get them treated. You have a lot of choices based on the kind of injury you have and the site of injury. Kindly take care while brushing, and please do not try removing plaque attached firmly to the tooth surface. You better seek professional assistance in that case.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
