Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have red, inflamed, and scaly patches on my face and body. What is the remedy for this type of skin concern?
Please suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Red, inflamed, and scaly patches on the face and body can occur due to several skin conditions, such as eczema, allergic or contact dermatitis, psoriasis, or severe dryness. To understand the exact cause and guide you more accurately, I kindly request that you share clear photographs of the affected areas, taken in good natural light and from a short distance.
In the meantime, it is important to focus on gentle skin care and barrier repair. I would advise switching to a mild, soap-free, or low-irritant cleanser and avoiding harsh soaps, scrubs, or fragranced products. After bathing, apply bland emollients or moisturizers, such as Vaseline petroleum jelly, generously and regularly (at least two to three times daily), especially over the affected areas, to reduce dryness, scaling, and irritation. Keep showers short, use lukewarm water, and avoid excessive rubbing of the skin.
If there is itching, you may take the tablet Cetirizine 10 mg (consult the doctor before taking any medicines) at bedtime.
Please avoid applying any steroid or combination creams without medical advice, as these can worsen the condition if used incorrectly. Once you share the photographs, I will be able to guide you further regarding the diagnosis and appropriate treatment. You have done the right thing by seeking help early.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach out to me again for further queries.
Thank you.
