Can sex trigger pimples on the face and arms?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I just need some clarification. I had sex with my girlfriend, who had not been around for a while, and two weeks later, I started having pimples that were like red dots but bigger on my face and biceps. Is that something to be concerned about?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am very sorry about your medical condition. Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed an immune deficiency disease possibly due to a virus, which can be transmitted via sex. This may be associated with severe skin dermatitis. Please do a retroviral screening and reply to me with the result. Meanwhile please use topical 0.2 % Tacrolimus cream, topical 0.05 % Clobetasol, or 0.2 % Hydrocortisone cream for one month. If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

Thanks for using icliniq and have a nice day.
