How to overcome restlessness caused by thoughts?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Whenever someone talks about marriage, I immediately become furious and restless, like I just woke up from a dream. I am feeling distressed, have a heavy heart, and have a fever. I saw in my dream that my parents wanted me to marry someone I did not know, but I tried everything possible to refuse. I even put a knife on my neck so that they would stop talking about it. I always behave like that. I hate marriage and even thought of it. My body is shivering after this dream, and I also have difficulty breathing. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is the reality that one day, you will get married to someone. You have not had a good relationship experience but need to move on. If one person is bad, that does not mean all others are bad. It would help if you gave them a chance. Do not be afraid of it. You must think about it.

  1. Everything will be fine. You must move on from your past.
  2. Discard all the stuff related to his memories. Do not stay alone. Keep yourself busy and active.
  3. You should exercise 30 to 45 minutes daily, like at least going for a walk.
  4. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts.
  5. You should eat healthy home-cooked food and avoid junk food.
  6. You must drink enough water.
  7. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.
  8. You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  9. You should get seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
  10. You must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  11. Do not waste your life because someone has given you a wrong time in the past.
  12. If you still have symptoms that persist after following the advice for four to six weeks, then you need to start medications for a short duration.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
