Why do I have a ringing sound in the ear post-tympanoplasty?

Hello doctor,
I had tympanoplasty surgery two days ago. My ear is ringing, and the sound feels slightly loud. There is no pain, and I do not feel any wetness. The ear dressing is still in place. Is this normal? Please help.

Ringing in the ear after tympanoplasty (a surgical procedure to repair a perforated eardrum) is a common and usually temporary symptom. The ringing sound, a feeling of fullness in the ear, and a mild wet sensation due to the dressing can all be part of the normal healing process. These symptoms often persist for a few days to weeks and occur because of postoperative swelling, the presence of packing material, and changes in middle ear pressure. However, they usually improve gradually as healing progresses.
During tympanoplasty, the ear canal is commonly packed with Gelfoam or similar absorbable material soaked in antibiotic ear drops. This packing may cause the ear to feel moist, blocked, or clogged, but it does not indicate that fluid is leaking from the ear.
