Kindly suggest me medicines to speed up the healing of a burned scar?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a cold sore arising on the border of my top lip and tried to stop it with alcohol and tea tree oil. The sore did not form, but I was left with a burn from the oil, and I pulled off the burned skin, leaving a small circular open wound. After healing, it started pink, but now it is whitish and sunken.

It is hard to cover with makeup. This happened about three weeks ago. Will this heal back to normal skin color? If so, what can I use on it to even it out and speed up the process? The hole is tiny, like the size of a pimple.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your case.

First, you need to understand that it is a normal skin response to heal with either hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation (white color as in your case) whenever it gets trauma (burn or insect bite). Most of the time, the lesion heals within four to six weeks.

But if the wound is depressed as you have described, then it means the scar is formed, and unfortunately, such injuries are sometimes permanent, but still, some do show a response to the laser treatments. Please always try to send a picture for an opinion. My advice is according to your description.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
