Medical Conditions - Hypopigmentation

Hypopigmentation is referred to as skin patches appearing on the skin which are lighter than the normal skin tone. It occurs due to disruption of melanin production. It can occur due to injury or trauma to the skin. Blisters, burns, and infections can also cause hypopigmentation. Cosmetic skin treatments such as chemical and laser peels can also cause hypopigmentation when the procedure is not done properly. It is treated by using lightening gels, laser resurfacing, and dermabrasion.
