Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been using compounded Semaglutide for weight management, but over the past few weeks, I have developed tingling sensations, neuropathic pain, and muscle weakness. My doctor thinks it might be an immune-mediated reaction to impurities in the compounded formulation. How common is this kind of side effect compared to the FDA-approved version? Should I stop the medication immediately, and what tests might help determine the cause? I’m really concerned about possible long-term nerve damage.
Please help me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Compounded Semaglutide can sometimes cause side effects due to impurities, which are less common with FDA-approved versions. Tingling sensations, neuropathic pain, and muscle weakness may indicate an adverse reaction. It is advisable to stop the medication immediately and consult your doctor. Diagnostic tests such as blood tests, nerve conduction studies, and electromyography can help determine the cause. Addressing this promptly can prevent long-term nerve damage.
Feel free to follow up with any further questions or concerns.
Thank you.
