Does compounded Semaglutide affect hormone levels?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 39-year-old male personal trainer prepping for a competition and have been using compounded Semaglutide for about two months to help reduce appetite and cut fat. My body fat has dropped, but I have started feeling sluggish and light-headed post-workout, and my libido is down. I have had hypothyroidism in the past and still take a low dose of Levothyroxine. Could the Semaglutide be messing with my hormone levels or causing too steep a calorie deficit? Should I cycle off or adjust dosing with my training phases?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Semaglutide does not typically interfere with thyroid function or the absorption of Levothyroxine, but it is always best to monitor your thyroid levels regularly and consult your doctor. Regarding your intense workouts, Semaglutide primarily targets fat loss, but maintaining muscle mass is crucial. Ensure you are consuming adequate protein to support muscle maintenance and recovery. Adjusting your protein intake while on Semaglutide can help preserve muscle mass during weight loss. Please book a consultation with me if you would like more detailed information on any of these points or if you have other questions.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
