Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My left shoulder hurts. When I raise my arm high it pops and it hurts really bad. Right now, my arm is in a resting position and it hurts and it is tingling. Yesterday I went to the park to practice throwing my discus. It did not hurt during the time I was practicing. I worked for eight hours today and it did not work partly because I was using my right arm. I have been feeling bad and tingling at night. I also have cerebral palsy which only affects my left side. I do not know why it hurts so bad. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. A few possibilities that could explain your symptoms. One possibility is that you may have injured your shoulder while practicing throwing the discus at the park. The pain and popping sensation when raising your arm high could be indicative of a shoulder joint or muscle issue. Another possibility is that the pain and tingling you are experiencing could be related to your cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy can sometimes lead to muscle imbalances, weakness, or spasticity, which could potentially affect your shoulder and contribute to pain and discomfort. It is also worth considering that repetitive or prolonged arm movements during your work could have aggravated your shoulder, especially if you were predominantly using your right arm and placing additional strain on your left side. Given the severity of your symptoms and the fact that they have been persisting, it would be best to consult with a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or a physical therapist. They will be able to evaluate your condition, perform a physical examination, and potentially order further diagnostic tests like X-rays or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. They can then provide you with an accurate diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment options to alleviate your pain and discomfort. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
