How to manage sinusitis headache?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing a headache for the past two weeks. I have constant pain on my forehead, around my eyebrows, around my eyes, along the sides of my nose bridge, and at the back and sides of my head, as well as behind my ears. It feels like my forehead and face are swollen whenever I have this headache. Most days, the pain starts right when I wake up in the morning and lasts until the afternoon. On some days, it does not start in the morning but begins in the afternoon. This headache also tends to occur during my travel times. Sometimes, I experience nausea along with headache, which mostly happens in the afternoon or evening. Occasionally, I also have leg pain. Additionally, every morning when I wake up, I have a blocked nose, a small amount of mucus, and sneezing.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

It may be due to sinusitis or other factors. I suggest you get an X-ray of the paranasal sinuses (PNS) and a complete blood count (CBC). Send me the reports as soon as you receive them.

In the meantime, I suggest you follow these instructions:

  1. Take steam inhalation three times a day.
  2. Do neck, back, and shoulder exercises daily.
  3. Sit in the correct posture.

I suggest you take the following medications for seven days. :

  1. Naxdom 250 mg (Nimesulide and Paracetamol) – one tablet twice a day.
  2. Allegra M (Fexofenadine and Montelukast) – one tablet per day.
  3. Revital Women (a multivitamin and mineral supplement) – one tablet per day.

I suggest you consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. Please send me a follow-up with the reports after three days.

I hope I have resolved your query.

I will be happy to assist you further. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
