Nimesulide

Nimesulide belongs to the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug group. It is a selective COX-2 inhibitor and blocks prostaglandin formation. It is used as a painkiller against acute pain, dysmenorrhea, osteoarthritis, etc. The adverse effects include skin rashes, abnormal blood counts, dizziness, gastritis, diarrhea, nausea, etc. Therefore, Nimesulide is contraindicated in pregnant, lactating women and children below 12 years of age.
