Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am experiencing acne and would like some advice. I have small bumps on my cheeks that often turn into pimples or zits. I also get larger, painful pimples, especially around my mouth and chin. Some of these pimples are red and white on top, like a zit, and leave red marks after they are popped. Some of my zits also take several days to subside.
My skin is a little dry, but not flaky or severely dry. I mostly get breakouts on my cheeks, mouth area, and chin. I am looking for a treatment plan to help clear my skin and reduce the bumps, pimples, and marks.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
We hope you are doing well. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned skincare steps:
Moisturize: Apply a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.
Sunscreen: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Benzoyl peroxide: A chemical compound used to treat acne by killing acne-causing bacteria and accelerating skin turnover to remove sebum and dead skin cells.
Salicylic acid: A beta-hydroxy acid that exfoliates skin and helps dislodge dead cells that clog pores.
Retinoids: Vitamin A-derived molecules used in skincare to treat acne, signs of aging, psoriasis, and some cancers by accelerating skin cell turnover.
Laser: Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation; a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation.
Consult a dermatologist for personalized advice and treatment. I also suggest the following lifestyle changes:
Diet: Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Hydration: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Stress management: Engage in stress-reducing activities, such as exercise or meditation.
I suggest you undergo the following laboratory tests for further workup:
Complete blood count (CBC).
Lipid profile.
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).
Aspartate aminotransferase (AST).
Alanine aminotransferase (ALT).
Follow up with investigations as necessary. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
