Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been experiencing sleep issues with bizarre, hypnotizing dreams where I am unable to open my eyes. My mind gets tricked into believing I am awake in these dreams, even though they occur repeatedly and I am unable to open my eyes or speak. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
It sounds like you might be experiencing a phenomenon known as sleep paralysis. During sleep paralysis, your mind is awake but your body is still in a state of sleep, which can cause feelings of being unable to move or speak. The bizarre and hypnotizing dreams you are having could be part of this experience. You should try to follow the below guidelines to deal with it. It will help you.
1) You should exercise for 30 to 45 minutes daily, like at least going for a walk.
2) You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts, just let them be.
3) You should eat healthy, home-cooked foods, and avoid junk food.
4) You must drink enough water.
5) You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.
6) You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills, languages, or musical instruments.
7) You should get seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
Sleep hygiene;
1) You need to fix your time for sleep, which means you must fix the time to sleep and awake.
2) You must not do any other activities in bed.
3) You must not just lie down on the bed without any reason, the bed is just meant for sleep.
4) Wear loose and comfortable clothes for sleep.
5) Take light food at night or dinner at least three hours before sleep.
6) You can take a maximum of 20 minutes of nap a day.
7) Do not use a mobile, television, or laptop at least half an hour before sleep.
8) Try to maintain an adequate temperature in your room, which means not too cold or too hot.
9) Have a proper bed and pillow.
10) Make sure there is no noise or disturbance at night.
11) You can drink warm milk with turmeric before sleep.
12) You must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
