Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having a sneezing problem. Every morning, once I wake up, I immediately get an itchy nose and start sneezing. I have been facing this issue for the past four years. Whenever I went to the general practitioner, they suggested hay fever tablets (Cetirizine). Taking one tablet provided relief for one or two days, but then the sneezing started again, even if I continued the prescription. The doctor later recommended taking two tablets. I have not taken any medicine for the past year, but I still have some problems in the morning. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Your symptoms of sneezing and an itchy nose may be due to atopic rhinitis, which is caused by hyperresponsiveness to allergens. For providing better guidance, I need a brief medical history:

  1. Any history of allergies in your family?
  2. Any history of asthma?

Morning symptoms could suggest pollen exposure during your morning walks, if you engage in them. The main treatment involves avoiding allergens, which we need to identify through your history. I suggest you use a tablet of Montelukast 10 mg plus Fexofenadine 120 mg in the morning for three days. I suggest you undergo investigation for complete blood analysis to check the count of eosinophils. Please follow up with the report for further evaluation. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
