What could cause severe lower back pain and fever?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My mom is experiencing severe pain in her lower back, and she has a fever, I suppose. She is shivering and crying and saying, “I am cold”. My mom is in danger, and there are no doctors available at the current moment. Tell me what is wrong with her. She is a smoker. She smokes cigarettes and vapes, and she is drinking coffee. This has been going on since yesterday morning, and it is currently the following evening. She has also experienced kidney failure at age 20. She is now 31 years of age.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in her body system. Regarding her symptoms, I believe she has developed spondylitis, which is an inflammatory disease of the spinal cord. Let her do an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and revert with the result. I suggest she take tablets Celecoxib 200 mg orally, twice daily for two weeks, Robaxin (Methocarbamol) 200 mg orally, twice daily for a week, and a topical 0.1 % Neurogesic (Diclofenac and Paracetamol) cream twice daily for a month.

I hope this information helps you.

Revert in case of queries.

Regards.
