Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Multiple mosquito samples testing positive for St. Louis encephalitis virus around our area have been detected. From the information I have, this viral infection can cause inflammation of the brain and potentially lead to long-term neurological damage or even death in some cases. Sounds absolutely terrifying. My main question is, how much of a realistic threat does St. Louis encephalitis actually pose in affected areas? Is this just media fear-mongering or should we, as residents be on high alert? Kindly suggest.
Thank you.
