What could cause white spots and rashes in the private part?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am around 30 years old and have a white spot on my private part, and my skin has become thin. As a result, I get rashes and turn reddish when the skin gets stretched. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I think you have striae distensae or stretch marks. Stretch marks either result from excessive skin stretching due to being overweight or usingcontaining cream or from hormonal imbalance like raised serum cortisol. There are many treatment options for this condition, but we need to rule out other causes of this condition as the use of exogenous anabolic steroids like:

  1. CO2 laser (carbon dioxide laser)- This will give you skin tightening over the affected area.
  2. Nonablative Nd: YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) laser and ER (erbium-doped) glass lasers
  3. Dermaroller and PRP (platelet-rich plasma)-This is a non-laser procedure with platelet-rich plasma injected in the stretch mark to induce skin tightening.

Kindly visit a dermatologist in person to get the treatment.

Thank you.
