Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for reaching out with your concern.

Sudden swelling of the lip associated with blisters on the hand that have persisted for about 24 hours most commonly suggests an acute allergic or hypersensitivity reaction, although certain viral or inflammatory skin conditions can occasionally present in a similar manner. Such reactions are often triggered by recent exposure to foods, medications, insect bites, cosmetic products, or contact with chemicals or plants, even if these were previously tolerated.

In allergic reactions and angioedema, lip swelling can appear rapidly and may last for one to three days, while hand blisters may represent an associated skin response such as allergic contact dermatitis. Viral causes are more likely if the blisters are painful or preceded by burning or tingling, whereas allergic blisters are usually itchy or associated with swelling. A careful review of anything new you may have used or consumed in the last 48 to 72 hours is therefore very important.

Please be alert for warning symptoms such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the tongue or throat, hoarseness of voice, dizziness, or rapidly increasing swelling. If any of these occur, urgent medical attention is necessary. To help in accurate assessment, it would be very useful to upload clear, well-lit photographs of the swollen lip and the blisters on your hand, as visual examination greatly assists in distinguishing between allergic, viral, and other inflammatory causes.

Until you are evaluated, avoid any suspected triggers, including new foods, medicines, cosmetics, or topical products. Do not puncture or pop the blisters, as this can lead to secondary infection. Applying cool compresses can help reduce swelling and discomfort, and avoiding scratching or rubbing the affected areas is advised.

Meanwhile, take the tablet Cetirizine 10 mg twice a day to manage the allergic reaction. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope it helped with your query. Please feel free to contact back with the relevant picture for better assessment and management.

Thank you.
