Can unprotected sex lead to syphilis ?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I recently had unprotected sex during a casual encounter, and I am feeling extremely anxious about the possibility of getting syphilis. I am a 25-year-old male, and this event occurred about two weeks ago. Since then, I have been experiencing some concerning symptoms, like a painless sore on my genitals along with a rash on my body. Can you provide insights into the symptoms of syphilis and what steps I should take next? I am feeling scared and uncertain about my health. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and would like to guide you in your query.
Syphilis is one of the sexually transmitted infections caused by unprotected sex.
It may show symptoms primarily like,
-
Fever.
-
Fatigue.
-
Headache.
-
Muscle pain.
If left untreated, it may lead to complications affecting internal organs like the nerves, brain, and cardiovascular system.
Since you are worried about the infection, I suggest that you take the following drugs.
-
For 10 days, take a tablet of Doxycycline 100 mg (antibiotic) morning and night, after food. Consult your doctor and take the medications as prescribed.
Also, provide photographs of genital sore. I suggest you get TPHA (Treponema pallidum Hemagglutination Assay) test done
I hope this information will help you.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
