How can face tanning be prevented?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a face tanning issue. My face gets tanned because I work in the field. As a result, not only my face but also my hands have become dull and tanned.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I completely understand your concern.

Please relax and try to stay stress-free. The probable cause of your issue could be prolonged exposure to the sun and UV rays, which leads to skin tanning and can also cause photosensitivity. I recommend following a few steps to help improve your condition:

  1. Adopt a consistent and effective skincare routine.
  2. Use sunscreen daily at 9 AM, 12 PM, and 3 PM.
  3. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outdoors.
  4. Avoid midday sun exposure, especially between 11 AM and 3 PM.
  5. Avoid direct sunlight whenever possible.
  6. Apply lightening cream twice a week for six weeks.
  7. Use brightening face serum on alternate days after cleansing, for one month.

Preventive measures:

  1. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  2. Use sunscreen regularly and consistently.
  3. Follow a diet rich in antioxidants, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A and C.

Please follow up after one month to assess progress.

Thanks and regards.
