What causes an uncomfortable feeling in the groin?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
For the past six to seven weeks, I have had an uncomfortable feeling on the right side of my groin or testicle.
It started with what felt like a burning sensation below the testicle, but that has subsided now.
The symptoms I have now are that when I am actively walking, working, etc., it feels like my right testicle is sensitive or that area is sensitive, almost like I can feel the position of the testicle when I walk, etc. Sometimes I get a pinching feeling between the scrotum and the right leg. When I sit down or lay down and rest, it gets better.
I had an ultrasound last week on the testes to see what it was, and the results found no abnormality.
Since this began, my right hamstring feels sprained or tight, and when I foam roll it, it feels like a sharp pain, like a nerve pain, especially up under my glute.
What could it be?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
There are a lot of reasons for your issue, it can be due to
-
Prone masturbation can cause pain due to injury.
-
Holding or prolonging orgasm during masturbation.
-
Epididymitis - Inflammation of the tube and back of the testicle that carries sperm. It can be due to Infection (both sexually and non-sexually transmitted) and can be diagnosed by urine and ultrasound pelvis.
-
Hydrocele - can cause swelling.
-
Hernia - can also cause swelling, but it will be on and off.
-
Kidney stones can cause abdominal pain, too.
-
Infections - can cause fever and discharge from the penis.
-
Urinary tract infection (UTI).
Kindly share more details regarding the above reasons.
For now, I would suggest you use Aceclofenac (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and Acetaminophen (an analgesic) combination tablets for pain.
I also suggest you do an ultrasound scrotum for better understanding and work on management.
Kindly consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent.
Revert with the answer to assist further.
Thank you and take care.
Regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I already had an ultrasound last week. The results showed normal epididymis on both side. The size and shape of my testes are also normal. No varicocele, no hydrocele, no lesions, or cancer. They said no cause for pain was identified.
Kindly help.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Does the ultrasound not detect an infection?
If it is a nerve, it explains the sore lower back at times, especially my right hamstring nerve feeling up under my glute.
Kindly help.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I will need to do a test for infection then. I will consult my doctor. Is it a urine test I need to do?
If I rule out infection, then it has to be nerve- or muscle-related.
Kindly help.

Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Great thanks. I have to add that I never have burning when peeing or after, and I have no trouble urinating. I do not need to go frequently, either.
Kindly help.
