Can Tezspire cause or worsen migraine headaches?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been on Tezspire (Tezepelumab – monoclonal antibody) for my severe asthma, and while my breathing has definitely improved, I have noticed a rise in migraine episodes since starting the injections. I have been on migraine medication for years, and they were mostly under control until recently.

Could Tezspire or its immune-modulating effects be triggering something neurologically, such as inflammation or hypersensitivity, that is setting off my migraines? I know it targets TSLP (Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin) and reduces airway inflammation, but could that be shifting something in my immune system that is indirectly affecting my migraine patterns?

I am not sure if this is a coincidence or a real side effect, but I would like to know if there are any known links or if other patients have experienced something similar.

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

While Tezspire (Tezepelumab – monoclonal antibody) targets TSLP (Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin) to reduce airway inflammation, its immune-modulating effects could potentially influence other inflammatory pathways. This might indirectly affect migraine patterns, although this is not a commonly reported side effect.

The rise in migraines could be due to inflammation or hypersensitivity triggered by changes in your immune system. However, more research is needed to establish a direct link.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

Thank you.
