How to manage Polymenorrhea and thyroid problems?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a biweekly cycle: one week of menstruation, one week without, one week of menstruation, one week without. This is very structured and consistent. I took the pill for over ten years with very few break weeks, and in the past ten months, I have stopped taking it, and my cycle is now like this. I started taking the pill at 15 years of age because of my biweekly cycle. Could this be PCOS? Could this be a sign of extreme fertility? Could this be something concerning? I also have thyroid problems.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed irregular menstruation due to hormonal imbalance. May I ask if you have done any tests to determine the diagnosis? I suggest you undergo a hormone profile test, pelvic scan, and clotting profile, and send me the results. I can see that you have thyroid disease, which I strongly believe may be responsible for the irregular bleeding. I suggest you take a tablet of Medroxyprogesterone 10 mg orally once a day for one month.

I hope this has helped you.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
