Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a large thyroid nodule. What can I do and what treatment can I get?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Before I proceed, I want to clarify something. As for the nodule: since it has increased in size in 1 dimension, although not to a significant degree and possibly due to small measurement errors, since it is large and may be growing, I suggest treating it rather than watching it. Also, I do not know if the nodule, besides having cosmetic concerns, causes any compressive symptoms. I recommend left-side removal and lobectomy rather than other modes of treatment like laser or microwave ablation. If you are unwilling to undergo surgery, you can repeat the scan after six to 12 months and consider repeating the FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) if it grows. After reviewing the images (TIRADS score) and clarifying the radioactive iodine treatment history, and maybe a repeat FNAC, we can also consider thermal ablation procedures such as laser and microwave.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
