Common "Toe Deformities" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Toe Deformities

The most commonly encountered toe deformities are hammertoe and mallet toe. Ideally, the ligaments, muscles, and tendons of the toe help hold them straight at rest and while walking. But for some individuals, factors like ill-fitting shoes, trauma, disease conditions involving the toe joints, etc., deform toes. For those with hammertoes, the middle joint of the toe will be bent upward. And in those with mallet toe, the joint nearest to the toenail gets affected.
