Can the toe get fractured if it slams into something?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I badly slammed my toe into a wooden chair. I had the tendon in the toe severed last year to correct my hammer toe. It does not feel right and is pulsing badly. This happened about one and a half years back and I am unable to put any pressure on that toe. Could it be broken?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation. There are chances that it could be broken, hence, you need to take an X-ray of the toe. Till then, you need to gently strap the toe with the other toe. It should not be too tight. I suggest you take the following medicines:

  1. Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg should be taken twice daily, once in the morning and another at night for 10 days after food.

  2. Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg should be taken twice daily, once in the morning and another at night for 10 days before food.

  3. Tablet Calcium and Vitamin D3 (Shelcal) 500 mg should be taken twice daily, once in the morning and another at night for 30 days before food.

  4. Tablet vitamin D 60 K units should be taken once daily for 10 days and then should be taken once a month for 11 months.

Please take the above tablets only if you are not allergic to them. Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma. This professional advice provided by me stands subject to the actual examination of the report or image and is based entirely on the inputs provided to me. It should be correlated with clinical findings.

I hope you had a pleasant experience at icliniq.

Thank you.
